Costa de la Luz and Cadiz Province

Costa de la Luz villa: building your dream home

It’s called the Costa de la Luz because the light seems a little brighter there and the colors more vivid. There’s always a cool breeze: the much talked about El Levante that often blows from inland out to sea..

Building a villa in any of the Costa de la Luz’s fantastic cities is a lifestyle choice you won’t regret. Unique to Spain, the western coastline faces the North Atlantic, meaning your villa will be in a prime location to see in the evening accompanied by a glass of Spanish wine and a gorgeous sunset.

Cadiz and Huelva are the two biggest cities in the region, but there are several smaller areas in the Costa de la Luz with land for sale that offer great value for money. And of course, you’ll have started your new lifestyle right in the heart of one of the finest gastronomy regions in the world.

A great plot of land in Costa de la Luz

The views you’ll wake up to every morning in the Costa de la Luz are second to none. Say goodnight looking over views of the Atlantic and enjoy landscapes that are unique to an area of Spain that isn’t overcrowded with expats and tourists.

Choosing the Costa de La Luz to build your home is choosing an authentic Andalusian atmosphere, something that can be difficult to come by along the coast of Spain (let Eco Vida Homes show you some special plots in Tarifa and Vejer de la Frontera).

Plus, living in the Costa de la Luz means you’re only a short drive from Portugal – an international holiday right next door!

Beachside golf on the Costa de la Luz

There are more than 20 golf courses to choose from on the Costa de la Luz.

Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club in Cadiz was designed by Spanish Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal. The architect designed the course to be built on flat farmland, so it’s nice and relaxing to walk around its 27 holes.

For more beachside golf, Sancti Petri Hills is a beautiful course that was also developed by golf legend: Severiano Ballesteros. This is a great course for golfers of all levels.

Montenmedio is an entirely rural golf course far from any built up area with wonderful views across the Straits of Gibraltar to Africa.

Costa de la Luz: a golden opportunity

For those looking for a slightly milder climate than its easterly neighbour, the Costa de la Luz is definitely worth investigating. The beaches are golden and the sand is finer than other popular coastal destinations in Spain.

Head to Zahara de Los Atunes or Bolonia for some of the more popular beaches in the Costa de la Luz. Compared with many tourist destination beaches, many of the coastal areas in the Costa de la Luz are unspoilt and aren’t built up like neighboring Mediterranean regions.

They are long, sandy, natural, and with a cool breeze coming off the Atlantic ocean. Anyone of the beaches at Conil de la Frontera, El Palmar de Vejar, Barbate, Zaraha de los Atunes, or Bolonia are well worth visiting if a day on the beach is your thing.

Iconic Villages on the Costa de la Luz

Vejer de la Frontera has got to be one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Perched on a hilltop it seems to have preserved its old-world charm as if the modern world hasn’t yet entered.

For the best boutique Hotel you must stay at the Casa de Califa with its beautiful rooms, terraces, and views over the surrounding countryside. A visit to the area would not be complete without dining at the atmospheric restaurant attached to the hotel El Jardin de Califa that celebrates the areas Moorish history in its cuisine.

Sanlucar de Barremeda is also well worth a visit. The town is famous for its sherry and seafood. There’s nothing better than a plate of fresh plump prawns and a manzanilla (dry sherry). The flamenco scene is vibrant and Sanlucar is the port from which Columbus set sale for his famous trip to America.

Costa de la Luz natural spots and wildlife

If you want to set up shop in a region of Spain with plenty of space to stretch your legs, you can’t do much better than the Costa de la Luz. As one of the lesser developed coasts on the peninsula, there’s plenty of nature to explore – and not only the beaches. Los Alcornocales Natural Park is a sprawling reserve that spans the Costa de la Luz and the Costa del Sol, heading deep into inland Spain. You’ll also find sand dunes, pine forests and Doñana National Park where you may even be lucky enough to spot a lynx.

With Eco Vida Homes you are in charge of the design. Our job is to make your vision a reality.
