European Conference on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Architecture and Planning

The second edition of the European Conference on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Architecture and Planning deals with the issues of the urban regeneration under three perspectives: sustainable architecture and energy efficiency; sustainable city and social planning; sustainable urban economy. These three topics will be addressed in an integrated vision to find synergies by the definition of a sustainable urban culture at all levels.

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in the Report “The need to apply an integrated approach to urban regeneration” of June 2010 stated that the regeneration policies should take into account several innovative concepts:
– The improvement of human resources taking into account, in particular, the needs of elder people, the integration of new immigrants, the eradication of poverty especially among children, the improvement of the intergenerational solidarity;
– The growth based on knowledge;
– The development of a participatory and creative society;
– The development of a competitive and interconnected economy, able to take into account the social and ecological market.
